At Beautiful Log Cottage, you can enjoy the quiet pleasures of lakefront cottage life while staying close to some of Mattawa’s best-loved attractions. Nestled near the meeting of the Mattawa and Ottawa Rivers, the area offers a beautiful mix of nature, small-town charm, local history, and outdoor adventure.
Spend your days at the cottage swimming, canoeing, fishing, relaxing on the deck, sharing meals outdoors, and ending the evening by the fire. When you feel like exploring, Mattawa offers visits to the Mattawa Museum, a movie at the Champlain Theatre, local shopping including Not Clyde’s, hiking at Eau Claire Gorge, golf and winter activities at Mattawa Golf and Ski Resort, and outdoor adventure on the VMUTS trails.
Throughout the summer, guests may enjoy local favourites such as Mattawa Voyageur Days, Thunder Valley Black Fly Edition, Thunder Valley Truck Rodeo, and Smoke ’n Spurs.
Whether you are looking for a peaceful retreat or an active Northern Ontario getaway, Beautiful Log Cottage is a lovely place to experience both the cottage and the best of the Mattawa area.
On-site, there is a small gravel boat ramp. With a 4-wheel-drive vehicle, you can also launch a small boat (about 16 ft/5 m or less) from the beach. For ATV riders, Moosehead Road connects to the VMUTS trail system, providing access to roughly 300 km of trails. If you’d rather rent than bring your own gear, Algonquin Outfitters offers canoe and kayak rentals and may be able to assist with delivery and guiding services. Fishing is available on the lake and surrounding waterway, with common species including bass, pike, and walleye—guests are responsible for confirming current Ontario licensing requirements, seasons, and catch limits before heading out. If you have any questions while planning your stay, please contact us through the website and we’ll be glad to help.
